Canton OH hookah bar closed.

Over  the weekend police in Cleveland closed down  Helios Shisha Lounge.

According to police quoted in Cleveland news sites, the Hookah bar owners were allowing kids into the Hookah bar.

“About six months ago, we started getting complaints from parents that their kids were coming to Canton to this hookah lounge to smoke this tobacco,” Police Lt. James Cole told Malcolm Hall of Canton Rep.com. “We did surveillance on it a couple times.” And on saturday police raided the Smoking lounge.

According to Canton Rep.com the police found  150 people in a Hookah bar that is allowed a maximum capacity of 47 and sales to children under 18. It is not clear if the sales are assumed because the kids under 18 were in the bar.

“What we found were between 150 to 160 people, (inside the smoking lounge)Police Lt. James Cole said told reporter Malcolm Hall.

“Probably 40 percent of the patrons in there were juveniles, ” Cole is quoted  as saying. “We closed it down. The youngest, I believe, was 15. I didn’t cite the kids. I took all their names and they will be used as witnesses,” Cole told the Canton Rep.com.

According to the Myspace page the owners may have thought they were complying with Law,  because they warn that you must be 18 and over to purchase Tobacco products. But the law seems to be like a liquor bar where you must be 21 and over to enter. It remains to be seen if this becomes a defense that Helios Shisha Lounge takes up.

really? Don’t tell me where you smoke ha. Out here in CA it is very protected. I know sometimes a 17 year old can get in, but where I smoke they take it really serious. In fact here its the complete opposite. No one is under 18 at hookah bars. Thats really weird how hookah culture can change from location to location.

      • I wont say what hookah bars they are but lets just say Im from Orange County, CA

      • abrahimappel Says:

whoa really?I actually don’t like when they let too young people in. Hookah’s should follow the rules. Because so many Hookah bars don’t respect thhe city they ruin it for Hookah barsd to advance to a more central role in the cities night life.

  2. If you keep these pictures up and false information up, then u will have to answer to a lawyer tomorrow cuz i will show the owner.
Helios shisha lounge, is a freestanding building with 2 seperate rooms, 1 of those rooms was used for a concert that day and in that room there was no smoking, the other was 18 and older with security in between the two checking id’s .Parents of kids under 18 was even there, many has dropped them off. The cops has no legal proof of any sales to anyone under the age of 18 because there was none it was impossible(concert nights hookah sales are also low because of high cover charge). Rumor has it the complaint came from the bar next door ,they was jealous of the boom of business that the place got and taking up a lot of their parking.
The city council, lawyers, police, fire inspectors, health department(health lady got a brand new Mercedes S550 $90,000+? the day before the raid btw and not a rumor because i’m her neighbor, she can’t afford it.)all hang out in that bar. i as well eat and drink there, and i hear what they say about the place and wish it was closed down.

hey natalie. This has been the funniest day. I have been written by a group of angry people who i support blasting me for bringing attention to the cause that I support. I am a hookah blog. This is hookah news. I tried to email you but your email given was inaccurate. i tried to reach the owner when we wrote the article. There was no response. So you say there was false information. have you contacted the newspaper that reported the information? Please tell the owner how much we want her to succeed. We want to write an article about all the hard work she put into the hookah bar. And how the police raided her hookah bar instead of just talking to her. please have her write me here and we can help you. we wish you all the best.

  3. “Unauthorized use of our images and posting them is infringement and will be punished. We pay our photographers not you.”

next time read please. you will hear from our lawyers.

    • abrahimappel Says:

hey john. use of publicly posted pictures on a non private myspace page for a non profit blog may not actually be infringement. But again we reported hookah news. Tell u what I’ll replace the photos. Again this is highlighting your issue. let this be a lesson for the future. When someone talks about what your going through befriend them. And see if you can connivence them your right. I write about hookahs Im obviously compassionate to the craft I love. Instead of wanting this taken down why don’t you share the truth here on this blog. We believe in freedom of speech here. I will approve all your comments. set the story straight.

    • abrahimappel Says:

please give me your photographers name and number.

  4. And the funny thing is..you got the city wrong. its in canton, ohio.. Everytime i went in that bar, i got carded…. And ive seen them card everyone. On the night that the cops came in, I couldn’t get a hookah cause my friend was 17 turning 18 on midnight and i figured wow, its a concert… If its illegal for underage to get into concerts at a hookah bar. then i think it should be illegal for underage to get into concerts in bars. and Also i think if parents bring them to it, that it should be illegal for kids to get tattoos and to be aloud in bars. But this bar kept me outta trouble and i used to party alot… but then it was something else to do then drive home hoping and praying not to wreck while drinking.. All the other hookah bars around this area are closed on fridays or they are small or they use hookah hookah brand, which sucks. Cause i didn’t know what a hookah was until i went to that bar… Now what do i have to do.. go back to partying and drinking then driving home. Yay… So the facts u say is wrong.

    • abrahimappel Says:

yes i did get the city wrong. We didn’t find it important. it was the whole ohio thing that mattered. tried to respond to natalie earlier but her email was not accurate. I think greg its important to realize we arn’t picking sides. We cover hookah news. It was reported that a hookah bar was closed. We reported a hookah bar was closed. What false info is there? we reported that a paper had reported this info. I actually don’t think you read the article. We are in full support of Hookahs. We believe it is very posable that you are completely innocent. We hope you are. but the article does say that its posable that in OH the rules are like a liquor bar. where you have to be 21. if i drop my daughter off at a bar…it doesn’t matter its 21 and over.
What I hope is that the hookah bar is right. And that the police were supposed to notify you of the complaints first. I wish this whole community of hookah smokers can return to their hookah bar. All we did hear was report the news.
i would advise writing me next time and wanting to have your side printed instead of threatening me. i wrote the article and was so sympathetic. And now thrown off by the anger. We tried to reach you but there was no phone number. I still would love to put up the hookah bars side of the story. remeber guys were a hookah company. we are obviously hoping you didn’t break any rules.

  5. abrahimappel Says:

ok changed the pictures. is that better? Again I read the article over to make sure I was fair to all sides. here is my proof.
“According to police quoted in Cleveland news sites, the Hookah bar owners were allowing kids into the Hookah bar.” i suggest you have your lawyer call him instead of me.
“About six months ago, we started getting complaints from parents that their kids were coming to Canton to this hookah lounge to smoke this tobacco,” Police Lt. James Cole told Malcolm Hall of Canton Rep.com. canton rep is who you need to file charges against and call them and tell them that they need to take down their article.
“According to Canton Rep.com the police found 150 people in a Hookah bar that is allowed a maximum capacity of 47”
“Probably 40 percent of the patrons in there were juveniles, ” Cole is quoted as saying. “We closed it down. The youngest, I believe, was 15. Agaign have your lawyer speak with this police officer.

  6. Helios Shisha Lounge has Open back up because Canton had no Proof and had no Complaints. It was all lies because The country has been trying to get rid of Smoking for a while now. The Canton Newspaper is not reliable, Buzzbin is reliable, thats the other news source in canton.
